Photography

All photographs taken by me are taken in uncompressed form, in Digital-Negative (DNG) format, in order to preserve the original data. The DNG-format variants are suitable for preservation and post-production editing. Photographs in DNG format are available upon request.

The lossy JPG-format photographs derived from the DNG-format images are perceptually-lossless and more-suitable for general viewing and sharing.

Videography

All videographs taken by me are recorded via Advanced-Audio-Coding (AAC) audio codec and High-Efficiency-Video-Coding (HEVC/H.265) video codec in an MP4 container, before being remuxed into an MKV container. The source footage is not lossless; therefore, transcoding to lossless formats is useless as the process would increase bitrate and file-size without any quality improvement.

My videographs are taken with a resolution of 1080p and a frame-rate of 60 frames/s*; this is typically enough for most use-cases and provides a good balance between quality and file-size.

The lossy AAC audio codec and lossy HEVC video codec in an MKV container will be used for production purposes until all required tools support the lossy Opus audio codec and lossy AV1 video codec.

*Due to a software misconfiguration, videos recorded between 2025-10-21 - 2025-12-23 are recorded with a frame-rate of 30 frames/s. This misconfiguration was taken into account when transcoding the videos for production and has been optimised for those particular videos.
